“Most young people in this area move to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, for work. But I realized that I could create something on my own right here. I have the land, I know construction work and I have an interest for agriculture as well. Beside our second chalet project I also have an agriculture project with 1 hectare plantage of a medical herb called Gentian Lutea. This herb is very rare and we have Europe's largest plantage of it. The president of the local government noticed how many guests I have and saw my work with the chalets and the plantage. He asked me what kind of support that I need. We have had huge problems with getting electricity to the area, so he helped me to get electricity here with a capacity for another 3-4 houses, an investment of 30-40 000 Euros. He told me that he is very proud of me and that I am an example for young people to show that you can stay in rural areas and still create something great.”
